Virtualized Macs!

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Virtualized Macs!Virtualization is a great concept!  So great in fact that Microsoft has included virtulization in Windows Vista as part of it’s Complete PC Backup.  So great that VMWare has several free virtulization products.  So great that many large organizations are consolidating their servers now through virtulization.  But then there’s Apple.  To date OS X can only run on Apple Hardware.  No support for virtulization.  But that might soon be changing….  Two large virtulization companys, Parallels and VMWare were recently quoted in an article on Slashdot about virtulizing OS X.  What does this mean?  One could finally be able to run Mac software on a Windows, Unix, or any platform that had a virtual machine player.  No more need to by speciffic apple hardware!  Not only is this an ingenious idea, but I would imagine that if PC users could experience the benefits of OSX, there would be more widespread adoption.  I’d just love to see the commercials for this one…  “Hi, I’m a PC, but I’m also a Mac!”

Also, when I was researching links for this article, I came across this sweet story from enGadget.  Yes you are looking at full DirectX virtulization on a Mac!  So step one, run OS X on a PC to become comfortable.  Step 2, virtulize your PC apps AND GAMES!

Mac vs. PC Commercials

Mac vs. PC CommercialsUnless you’ve been living under a rock, I sure that you’ve seen the new Apple advertising that seems to be on every network with every television show nowdays depicting two guys as being a Mac and a PC. Well, on the Apple WebSite, I stumbled across the commercials (in QuickTime, of course) for your viewing pleasure. I’ve seen some clever marketing before but this just about tops everything else I’ve seen…. OK, for Jody’s sake maybe not the commercial for the Honda Element with the Crab. Enjoy!

MacBook and MacBook Pros Reviewed

MacBook and MacBook Pros ReviewedIn my random internet surfing tonight, I stumbled across reviews from ArsTechnica about the recently released MacBook’s and MacBook Pro’s. The MacBook review has benchmarks included that show the performance of the MacBook, MacBook running Windows XP (using Bootcamp), and a MacBook Pro. Interestingly, in many of the cases, the MacBook out performs the MacBook Pro, even while running Windows XP! Now with that said, the video on the MacBook Pro is MUCH better than that of the MacBook since it uses a PCI-E video card and not the Intel integrated video. Oh how much I want a Mac….

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Real Jedi Use Macsisnoop.net has released a pretty cool toy for the new fancy MacBooks that allows any MacBook owner to become a Jedi! MacSaber uses the built-in iSight camera to sense the movements of your MacBook and play lightsaber sound effects. So, the ultimate question here, is will the Apple Care warranty cover a MacSaber fight? Apple Tech Support: “So who was the Dark Jedi again?”.
