Running Windows Without Admin Rights?

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Running Windows Without Admin Rights? One of the tenets in IT Security is the principle of least privileged (i.e.: only give a user the rights that that need). Unfortunately for most home users this is easier said than done with under Windows XP. This is largely because many Windows applications need “God” access to function properly. This “Ask Slashdot” article talks a bit about this. From the comments, it appears that this is easier said than done. If this became truly possible, this would be a GREAT way to shore up many of the spyware/adware problems that many users face. I really wish MS would ship something like this as a system default.
